The General Assembly organized for this purpose took place in Abidjan. The opening ceremony of this meeting was chaired by Mr. Amadou KONE, Minister of Transport. In his opening speech, he took up the challenges facing the Authorities. “As responsible for transport, you have the heavy responsibility of proposing responses to the obstacles to mobility which prevent the smooth running of our cities, but also of ensuring that these cities are equipped not only with effective policies and strategies, but also infrastructure and services adapted to promote integrated, coherent, sustainable and efficient urban mobility plans.” He said. The minister expressed his joy at seeing the mobilization of Africans to work together to face the challenges facing them, the main one of which is governance. “ This February 21, 2023 must be inscribed in golden letters in the annals of the African march towards sustainable urban mobility. This day marks an important milestone in the governance of urban mobility in Africa, and I am happy to participate in this founding event.

The opening ceremony saw the participation of technical and financial partners such as the ADB, the World Bank, the Commission of the European Union and the Swiss Embassy.

After the opening, participants will have to validate the founding texts, statutes and internal regulations during the day and appoint the members of the executive committee of the Association.
